ReferenceBeyond the civics test, the officer will ask questions based on your N-400 application. Practice these questions in English and Vietnamese.
Advanced PrepThe officer will ask up to 10 questions. You must answer 6 correctly to pass. If you answer 6 correctly before all 10 are asked, the officer may stop early.
The civics test is normally conducted in English. However, if you are 50 or older and have been a permanent resident for 20 years, or 55 or older with 15 years of permanent residence, you may take the civics test in your native language with an interpreter.
If you fail, you will be scheduled for a second interview within 60–90 days. You only need to retake the portions you failed. If you fail the second time, your application is denied and you must reapply.
Most answers are fixed, but some vary by state (e.g., "Who is your state's governor?") or by year (e.g., "Who is the President?"). Our flashcards note which answers vary.
